In October 2012, the Nano-Einsteins Science Club was initiated at Coral Park Elementary School. First grade gifted students were inducted as first members into the Nano-Einsteins Science Club in a special ceremony that involved parents, faculty, and ACS student members. The goal is to instill a thirst for knowledge in chemistry, biology, and physics through visual and interactive lessons and demos. These themed lessons follow along the class curriculum. The Nano- Einsteins engage in activities such as: Who Am I? In the Periodic Table, Polymer Network with Slime, Food Chains, Matter and its properties, Chromatography and Energy in Natural Sources. These interactive activities allow the students to build a solid foundation on their analytical, teamwork, and leadership skills. Meetings are held twice a month. This is an ongoing project that started with eighteen students and now we have close to forty gifted students in this program.
