The Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) chapter at Washington & Jefferson College has been staying active in 2013. The expanding chapter size and frequent meetings have allowed us to organize many events and stay active on campus. Events including the student activities fair, study sessions, and a periodic table of cupcakes bake sale have spread chemistry to students of all majors. Our main event, Saturday Science, has allowed us to reach out to the local community and teach elementary students about the fun of chemistry. Many of these activities were made possible by a large fundraiser with the cooperation of the chemistry faculty. Professors volunteered to be drenched under a safety shower to raise money for the chapter. The 2013 year has shown significant improvement in the activity of the chapter and has allowed for further growth in years to come.
