The University of Michigan-Flint Chemistry Club prides itself on being involved in the community and on campus by helping people explore the wonders of chemistry.  We developed a series of demonstrations aimed towards teaching both students and adults, and have planned and participated in numerous events to showcase these demos.  We participated in a festival held at the on-campus daycare by doing demos with liquid nitrogen and dry ice.  Plus, we designed a workshop that gave teachers the resources and information to do demos in their classrooms.  We also developed an exciting hands-on program for middle school students as part of a campus-wide event called Super Science Friday, which hosted 600 middle school students in order to foster their curiosity in science.   A focus this year was to develop new members' understanding and presentation of demos by teaching various demos at meetings and having new members then present what they learned. Then, we encouraged their active participation in demo events with prizes. Furthermore, we planned numerous events for National Chemistry Week including a Periodic Photo Scavenger Hunt, �chalking� our campus with the periodic table, a birthday party to celebrate Mole Day, and Halloween-themed demos with the local planetarium and the Detroit ACS section at the Detroit Zoo. To continue integrating social media into club events, we held a Periodic Photo Scavenger Hunt where students searched throughout campus to find flyers of various elements and submit pictures with them to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. In addition, we created a YouTube page detailing various demos that the club performs and how to conduct them. Finally, we have increased our interactions with four other science clubs on campus by organizing a 'Geek Week' celebrating scientific fellowship, going on tours to research facilities, and joining forces to fundraise for Relay for Life.
