Our chemistry club has continued its traditional events but is also going in new directions.   The former include a pair of kick-off events in which we make and distribute Dip 'N Dots on campus and hold a picnic off campus at a nearby lake.  We have partnered with the Physics Club to put on a demonstration show and assisted the local ACS section with their National Chemistry Week outreach event at the local science discovery center.   Other traditional events have included social events at professors' homes and a trip to the National Meeting.   During the last year, we decided to place more emphasis on outreach and professional development activities.   We facilitated hands-on activities for a church youth group and organized a number of professional development events.  The latter include a panel discussion on sustainable energy during National Chemistry Week as well as other talks and panel discussions pertaining to careers in chemistry.    We also have plans for field trips to local industries.
