The University of Kansas (KU) Chem Club is known regionally for its exciting and explosive K-12 science demonstrations.  New collaborations with community organizations, including museums, Scout troops, and local colleges and universities, have expanded the Club's audiences.  The current officers successfully sought new opportunities for cooperation with a Girl Scouts of the USA council covering 47 counties in two states (>34,000 Scouts).  Mentorship and development with local student chapters enhanced the capabilities of the KU Chem Club and the partnering chapters.  New activities for this year have culminated in creation of an Erlenmeyer flask mascot costume; exciting professional development opportunities for members; tours of local industrial facilities; and discussions of employment options for graduates in chemistry and allied fields.  Officers have increased membership and retention by capitalizing on student interest in the hit TV show �Breaking Bad� via show-themed social events and original T-shirt designs that allude to the show.
