While there are many ways that the teaching of chemistry is influenced over time, the role of an expanded effort in Chemistry Education Research (CER) has been particularly important over the past decade. One way that this influence can be monitored is to see what is valued by the chemistry education community, and the existance of ACS Exams as an artifact of the national efforts to teach chemistry represents a unique option to investigate how CER may be influencing teaching. This talk will analyze data from ACS Exams over the past twenty years of general chemistry exams to see how results from CER have been incorporated in the assessment of student learning. Trends and breaks in trends will be used to forward this discussion.
