The use of chemiluminescent probes for the detection of reactive analytes in point-of-care testing would decrease the cost of analysis and allow patients to receive test results more quickly. Our laboratory has been developing numerous probes capable of producing luminescence upon interaction with an analyte. To demonstrate the usefulness of these probes in a point-of-care setting, we have been using a light-tight imaging box in conjunction with an iPhone camera. The camera takes time-lapse photographs of the sample during the reaction, which are subsequently analyzed using the ImageJ application. Various probes have been tested at many concentrations to determine the best probe and reactant combinations. We report the experimental results of our imaging system in order to determine suitable candidate probes for the detection of our targeted analytes.
