Graphite oxide was prepared by the Hummers meathod. Then after further oxidation, a new Kind of graphene nanoparticles (graphene quatum dots), with diameter 10-30 nm, which make floursciene weak green dots, was formed in the aqueous solution. On the basis of formation graphene dots, a new kinds of graphene nanorods was formed with self-assembly in the aqueous soluation by hydrazine hydrate. The reaction mechamism along with formation of graphene dots and graphene nanorods were proposed and characterized by various equipments such as: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV-emitting, photoluminescence (PL) X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman, and transmission electron microscopy, which is deduced that the nanorods are generated by the self-assembly of graphene dots by reduction. Various potencial industrial applications will be presented in terms of surpecapacitor, polymeric nano composite, micro-surpecapacitor, graphene fiber, anti-corrosion, and electric heaters, etc.
