Supercapacitors have captured attention in the energy storage field due to high energy density and high power density. In this study we mainly focused on lithium phthalocyanine and zinc phthalocyanine and how it can be used as a supercapacitor electrode material. Here we used electrospun nanofiber mat of a blend of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and lithium phthalocyanine and blend of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and zinc phthalocyanine that stabilized and carbonized to prepare electrodes. Fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR) and solid state UV- vis absorption spectroscopy (UV-VIS). The electrode material was used to prepare coin cells and they were used to investigate electrochemical performance of the supercapacitor using  cyclic voltammetry (CV) and constant current charge-discharge.
