This paper explores the role of several reactive species in the degradation of three selected pharmaceuticals in the Suwannee River.  Matrices consisting of Suwannee River humic acid, Suwannee River fulvic acid, Suwannee River NOM extract, and an actual Suwannee River water sample are analyzed separately, and concentrations of hydroxyl radical and singlet oxygen are measured in each.  Second order rate constants are measured for the reactions between the reactive species and each pharmaceutical, and the results are used to quantify the relative importance of each reactive species in the degradation of each pharmaceutical.
