Acid treated activated carbon was prepared and used for the removal of salicyclic acid and ibuprofen from aqueous solution. The activated carbons were prepared by pyrolysis of the biomass materials at 450 oC. The characterization of the adsorbent was studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy,scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, surface area measurement, and zero point charge measurement. Batch sorption studies were carried out at different pH values, concentrations and temperatures. The total amount of salicyclic acid and ibuprofen adsorb were determined quantitatively using uv-vis spectrophotometer. The results obtained were evaluated using Freundlich, Langmuir, and Sips adsorption isotherm models. The results show that the sorption capacity of the prepared adsorbent was successful in removing salicyclic acid and ibuprofen from aqueous solution.
