Hazard maps of VOC exposure were created using a new direct reading method during a work shift chemical release. A Real-Time Location System (RTLS) was combined with a custom-built photoionization detector (PID) to make a chemical exposure method with indoor positioning (CEMWIP). This CEMWIP method was used to measure the location, VOC concentration, temperature, humidity, and time at a chemical sensor during a simulated chemical release. The data was measured in real time to determine locations of higher VOC concentrations, and also applied  after the fact to construct a hazard map of the simulated work area. The hazard map identified locations of high VOC concentration during a work shift. The areas of high hazard were linked to work task that released the vapors and located the point source of the chemical release. The laboratory simulation of a work shift VOC release was done in preparation for real world field studies.
