As an important functional metal oxide, manganese oxides and its derivative compounds have attracted much attention because of their particular physical and chemical properties and wide applications in catalysis, ion exchange, molecular absorption, biosensor, and energy storage.[1] Research results show that the electronic and optical properties of the manganese oxide materials highly depend on their morphologies, dimensionality, size and crystallographic forms, many efforts have been made to control these parameters for synthesizing the manganese oxides with unique properties.[2] Therefore, how to develop facile, easily controlled, and template-free synthesis methods to produce MnO2 materials with uniform morphologies and crystallographic forms is of great importance. In this presentation, manganese oxides with different shapes and crystallizations have been controllably prepared by both controllable hydrothermal method and delamination/reassembling technology.[3] Moreover, their electrochemical capacitance depending on shape and crystalline structure is systematically investigated. The controllable hydrothermal method and delamination/reassembling technology are benefit suitable for the preparation of manganese oxides with novel morphologies and crystallizations, and the prepared nanostructured manganese oxides offer some enhanced kinetic performance in catalytic applications as well as good capacitances in supercapacitor electrodes.
