The absorption spectrum of O2 is recorded at 295 K for the ? (?' = 2 ? ?' = 0) band of the b1S+g ? ?3S-g transition using phase shift cavity ring down spectroscopy.   The laser is injected into the cavity in the on-axis and off-axis configuration.  On-axis means that the laser beam is entering the cavity and traveling through the center of both high reflectance mirrors whereas off-axis requires the beam to enter the cavity at a certain distance from the center of the mirror.  The off-axis signals were obtained for several perpendicular x and y positions and distances up to 3.2 mm.  The results of the two forms of laser injection are compared with respect to magnitude of the signal, spectral resolution, and signal to noise ratio of the resulting spectra.
