Gold intercalated into mesoporous silica material has been reported to be active in various catalytic processes. However, the influence of intercalation process on catalytic property is still unknown. We have successfully intercalated polyoxometalate into the walls of mesoporous silica, with characterization by XRD TEM and physisorption. Results proved a stable structure of polyoxometalate intercalation and well-defined mesoporous materail. A series of catalytic experiments were performed on benzyl alcohol and n-hexadecane, the polyoxometalate intercalated materials showed high activity in catalysis. Compared with homogeneous catalysis, polyoxometalate immobilization of into pore of mesoporous silica and polyoxometalate impregnated on silica surface of the above reaction, polyoxometalate intercalated into the walls of silica provides crucial insight of catalytic performance in varying environment.
