Time-resolved reaction calorimetry and 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to determine rates of the catalytic reduction of para (X) substituted t-butylbenzaldimines, (X = H, F, CH3O, CH3, CF3) with the �antagonistic� Lewis pair, (2-(bispentafluorophenylboranyl)ethyl)dimesityl-phosphane (PBCAT). A Hammett plot of the relative rates of reduction shows a linear relation with a negative slope, indicative of electron donating groups increasing the rate of reduction by PBCATH2. The ?H of reaction for H2 activation was also determined by reaction calorimetry, and is consistent with literature estimates predicted by theory. Experimental details and analysis of the data will be discussed along with mechanistic implications of these findings
