The synthesis of two and three dimensional metal-organic frameworks is described wherein Zn-seamed pyrogallol[4]arene (PgCx) nanocapsules are utilized as  supramolecular building blocks with 4,4'-bipyridine and related linkers.  These MOFs feature unusual coordination geometries at the zinc centers along the nanocapsular periphery when compared to previous examples of zinc-seamed nanocapsules.   MOFs based on nanocapsules seamed by other metals will be discussed.
