Since the dawn of civilization, women have participated in unraveling the secrets of nature, contributing for the science in several important discoveries. In Brazil, the scientific profession has been to open its doors to women, and our recent history has offered examples of women scientists whose works have been remarkable. I consider my career included amongst the Brazilian women who have had the freedom to choose research on Natural Products Chemistry to drive my profession. I was interested in science from an early age, and only in PhD, at University of S�o Paulo, 1981, I really knew what I wanted to do - to investigate our rich biodiversity. It was a long and fascinating journey, and I will show our insights of more than two decades of research, which has been guiding other activities, for example, the presidency of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2008-2010. Currently, our research is part of a long term CEPID-FAESP Program, which main goal is to identify lead molecules from Brazilian biodiversity.
