The discovery of new and improved treatments for disease has many challenges. The pharmaceutical industry provides a unique opportunity to impact multiple therapeutic areas. Included in this presentation are several examples, from my 27 yrs in the industry, that highlight the evolution of a synthetic route from discovery scale to process scale. Discussed will be the paradigm shift from �make it quickly� to �make it efficiently�, with an eye toward scalability, occupational and environmental safety.
