Starting with small fluorinated building blocks we have targeted cross-conjugated fleeting intermediates as precursors for rigid polyarene scaffolds.  The presentation will discuss optimized procedures for the synthesis of some precursors, structure of selected intermediat4es and conditions for the dimeriation of the reactive intermediates.
