Atom transfer radical polymerization gives access to polymers with precisely controlled architectures such as block and gradient copolymers, star- and comb-like structures and even molecular brushes.  Polymers can be grafted by ATRP from/onto various inorganic substrates. These materials microphase separate and provide various highly porous materials with surface functionality important for various applications, including CO2 capture or electronic materials such as supercapacitors and oxygen reduction catalysts.
