Rive Technology, Inc, is pioneering the use of mesostructured zeolite for the catalytic cracking of petroleum, and FCC catalyst using Rive mesostructured zeolite has delivered as much as $2.74/bbl of incremental value in two commercial trials.  After catalyst performance, cost is the second most important factor affecting the commercial viability of surfactant-templated mesostructured zeolite in FCC.  This paper reviews the key elements which impact the cost of surfactant-templated mesostructured zeolite and presents data highlighting some of the strategies used by Rive to reduce production costs.  A cost reduction timeline summarizes progress towards that end.
