Dehydrogenation of alkanes is one of the most important methods for the production of alkenes. Recently a series of PCP-pincer Ir complexes were found to be active for catalytic dehydrogenation of alkanes. However, the catalytic activity was not sufficiently high for practical application. We recently developed a boron-based PBP pincer ligand system for Ir, Rh, Pt, and Ru, and Peters group also applied the ligand system for Co complex. However, dehydrogenation by using PBP-Ir complex has not been realized yet probably due to bulkiness of tBu groups on the phosphorus atoms. Herein, we report synthesis of PBP pincer ligand iPr-substituted PBP-ligand system and its complexation with Ir.
