We surveyed the occurrence of nine N-nitrosamine species in water samples including raw waters, finished waters and distribution system waters from nine municipal drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs) in eight cities of Jiangsu Province, East China. NDMA (n.d.-5.4ng/L), NMEA (n.d.-9.5 ng/L), NDEA (n.d.-2.7 ng/L) and NPyr (n.d.-8.5 ng/L) were detected in the distribution system waters in summer. NDMA (n.d.-45 ng/L), NPyr (n.d.-5.2 ng/L) and NPip (n.d.-309 ng/L) were detected in the distribution system waters in winter. The occurrence and distribution of N-nitrosamines in drinking water from DWTPs are very different between the summer and winter. The relationships were assessed between the total concentrations of nine N-nitrosamines in raw waters, finished waters and distribution system waters in the DWTPs and the measured values of raw water quality parameters, including pH, DOC, UV254, UV272, SUVA254, SUVA272, NH3-N, NO2--N, NO3--N and DON. There were positive relationships between the total concentrations of nine N-nitrosamines in raw waters and the concentrations of DOC and NO2--N, and negative relationships between the total concentrations of nine N-nitrosamines in raw waters and the values of UV254, UV272, SUVA272 and SUVA254 (p<0.05). There was a positive relationship between the total concentrations of nine N-nitrosamines in finished waters and distribution waters (p0.05) for NAs levels in drinking water between summer and winter was found.
