Dimer of hexafluorothioacetone (2,2,4,4-tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-dithietane, 1  ) is readily available fluorinated material, which has a unique chemical reactivity. In this presentation the reaction of 1  with different azoles, leading to the formation of the corresponding N-(hexafluoro-iso-propyl)azoles will be described.The outcome reaction of indoles and pyrroles with 1  depends strongly on several different parameters. Depending on the reaction conditions, catalyst and the structure of indole or pyrrole, the process may lead to the formation 1:1 adducts, Het�C(CF3)2S-SCH(CF)3, disulfides [Het-C(CF3)2-S]2 or (in case of indoles) products containing -S-CH(CF3)2 fragment. The scope and mechanism of these reactions will be discussed in the presentation.
