Wilkinson's tris(tert-butylimido)nitridomanganate(VII) complex, originally only synthesized by a circuitous  reaction from commercially unavailable MnCl3,  was synthesized in two steps using only commercially available products. The emerald green crystalline Li2[Mn(NtBu)3N] � LiCl(THF)2 was synthesized by reaction of MnF3 with LiNHtBu and LiCl at 85�C for 5 hours. The complex was confirmed via 1H NMR, absorption and FT-IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction methods.
