We have previously reported the synthesis of a series of ligand-bridged dinuclear vanadium(IV/IV) complexes with various bridging phosphate, phosphonate, phosphinate, and oxalate salts. [1-4].  The cyclic cores of these complexes exhibit conformational differences based upon the steric and electronic properties of the bridging ligand used, which has an influence on their activity as oxidation catalysts.  These complexes serve as structural models for the known industrial oxidation catalyst VOPO4 and, as model systems, they have potential catalytic activity similar to that of VOPO4.
