Syntheses and size-control of Al nanoparticles was achieved from the vapor-phase precursor Al(CH3)3 by excitation of  with femtosecond Simultaneous Spatio-Temporal Focused (SSTF) lasers of different energies over different intervals of time. The particles sizes of Al nanoparticles range from 1-100 nm based on TEM (Transition Electron Microscopy). Over short irradiation times,, 50-100 nm spherical particles are formed, whereas extended (micron-sized) networks of 1-5 nm  particles are found after longer irradiation times.  Al-Mg alloy nanoparticles generated as nanorain from the gas-phase precursor Al2Mg(CH3)8. The particle size ranging from 5-100nm with spherical shapes are found from TEM images. Both Al and Al-Mg nanoparticles are characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction and DLS (dynamic light scattering) studies. This is the first report of generation of Al nanoparticles from the gas phase and the first report of alloy nanoparticles from laser methods.
