Organoscandium chemistry has been dominated by Cp-derived supporting ligands. We have prepared a non-Cp ligand for scandium that supports s-bond metathesis activity that, to our knowledge, is previously unknown for non-Cp derived systems. Additionally, these scandium complexes display novel C�C bond activation chemistry. Evidence will be presented for the intermediacy of a terminal scandium methylidene complex.
