In this study, a novel magnetic graphene oxide �molecular imprinted polymers (MGOMIPs) has been synthesized by facile thermal decomposition process for the removal of clofibric acid (CA) from aqueous solution. A core-shell three-dimensional structure of the MGOMIPs was revealed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with oxide iron as the core, CA- imprinted polymers as the shell and graphene oxide as the carrier. The high saturation magnetization (23.9 emu/g) of the synthesized MGOMIPs allow fast magnetic separation from real water by an external magnetic field. Compared to the non-imprinted polymer (NIP), MGOMIPs showed enhanced performance and good selectivity for CA in the presence of competitive compounds with the maximum adsorption capacity of 103 mg/g within 30 minutes. The pseudo second-order model well described adsorption of CA on the MGOMIPs.The adsorption experimental results indicated that CA sorption on MGOMIPs was strongly depended on pH and can be used at least eight cycles without obvious loss in performance.
