The Teach-Discover-Treat (TDT) initiative was launched in 2012 and we are celebrating the award symposium for the second TDT competition at this meeting in San Francisco. A tangible goal of the initiative is to provide high quality computational chemistry tutorials that impact education and drug discovery for neglected diseases. An equally important goal is to support a sustainable, collaborative drug discovery community by forging partnerships between experimental and computational scientists and by sharing best practices and knowledge within the computational chemistry field. The initiative has grown stronger in round-2 with more participants, new sponsors and additional partnerships for the challenges. There is also increased breadth with opportunities for commercial software vendors to participate, more diverse computational approaches in the submissions, and a challenge that targets neglected diseases in livestock, recognizing that a healthy community requires health in all aspects of its existence. This award symposium is an opportunity to celebrate achievements of our participants and discuss how we can continue to grow stronger and broader.
