The first example of heterogeneous catalysts for hydroboration of carbonyl compounds will be presented. The catalysts were prepared by reaction of zirconium (IV) tetra amide and Mesoporous silica (MSN-10, 10nm). The catalysts were characterized by stoichiometry of synthesis through quantification of byproducts, active sites through quantification of R2NBpin produced, FTIR, 13C-CP/MAS, 13C-DP/MAS, 29Si-CP, DP/MAS and elemental analysis. Efficiency of newly developed catalysts in the hydroboration of ketones, aldehydes, esters and amides will be discussed in detail. Finally, homogeneous zirconium compounds were tested and compared to heterogeneous catalysts.
