Epoxy coatings offer a series of advantages which has made them valuable systems that are used in applications in protective and marine coatings. There is a variety of curative systems paired up with the different epoxy resins, and although some modification of properties is possible, the major shortcoming of this technology is still the weathering resistance. Performance enhancement is possible by the judicious use of polysiloxanes. Some systems where polysiloxanes are employed contain a fairly complex reaction system made up of three components. This presentation is going to discuss an alternative to these systems, and present some testing data relative to general physical properties, as well as weathering testing results.
