In our ongoing collaboration with Professor Tjeerdema's environmental toxicology group at the University of California, Davis, we undertook the synthesis of the photolytic, microbial, and metabolic metabolites of the recently developed novel rice paddy herbicide benzobicyclon [3-(2-chloro-4-meslybenzoyl-2-phenylthiobicyclo[3.2.1]oct-2-en-4-one]. The synthesis of several of these metabolites will be presented.
