Imazosulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide used in rice production throughout the United States, but is not approved in California's rice fields. For quantitative degradation studies of imazosulfuron, the photolytic and soil aerobic metabolites need to be synthesized. Metabolites synthesized will be used as pure analytical standards for determination by HPLC of metabolites present in soil samples. The synthesis of several of these metabolites will be presented.
