The functionalization of nucleosides generates valuable compounds due to the modified bioactivity of the derivatives.  A myriad of approaches have been used to change the architecture and functional groups on the parent nucleoside.  We have developed a base-free cross-coupling of nucleosides with a range of heterocycles to afford the new compounds.  This presentation will focus on the critical reaction parameters as well as the effect of catalyst structure as well as the electronic composition of the heterocycles on the cross-coupling reaction.
