We examined steam reforming of toluene as a model compound of liquid fuel including aromatic hydrocarbon over Ni/perovskite catalyst. The steam reforming reaction over Ni/La0.7Sr0.3AlO3-d proceeded after the oxidation treatment because Ni in Ni/La0.7Sr0.3AlO3-d was not aggregated during the oxidation treatment and was easily reduced by toluene or other reducing agent such as hydrogen during the second steam reforming after the oxidation treatment. The steam reforming reaction over Pt/Ni/La0.7Sr0.3AlO3-d proceeded without pre-reduction because the electron donation from Pt to Ni and the changing electronic state of Ni to Ni0.
