Crystalline poly(3-alkylthiophene)s have been considered as promising conjugated polymers for the fabrication of flexible electronic devices because of the high charge carrier mobility and excellent mechanical properties. The device performance is strongly dependent to the crystalline structure and morphology of conjugated polymers. Various post-treatments such as solvent annealing and thermal annealing have been employed to improve the crystallinity and crystal size to achieve the high performance of the device. Annealing also changes the polymer chain packing modes, yielding difference crystal modifications. In this work, we report solvent-induced polymorphism of poly(3-butyl thiophene). We study the crystal structure and morphology of the spherulites by varying the vapor pressure, solvent, evaporation rate, etc. The effect of carbon nanotubes and graphene on the spherulites will be discussed.
