In this paper we study on the effects of olefins(including: ethylene, propylene, butylene) as feedstock together with methanol during the induction period of methanol to olefins(MTO) compared to methanol as feestock individually. The hierarchically porous SAPO-34/18 zeolite is synthesised by our group. As shown in figure 1, olefins as co-feeds, especially propylene, speed up the conversion of methanol and increase the convert ratio.   Figure 2 shows that when methanol is the sole raw material, the induction period of MTO reaction is about more than 120 seconds. Whereas, the olefins as co-feeds are joined into the process, the induction period is significantly reduced, about 40s. And that, the concentration of olefins in product are increased. This shows that olefins as co-feeds contribute to the generation of hydrocarbon pool and the production of olefins.   ?So we come to the conclusion, olefins as co-feeds can speed up the conversion of methanol and reduce the induction period at the beginning of the MTO reaction on SAPO-34/18 zeolite, especially propylene.
