OKE spectra of ionic liquids and their mixtures with benzene and other molecules have been obtained recently by Quitevis and his co-workers. Although it would be difficult to simulate the spectra directly, the Fourier transforms of velocity autocorrelation functions provide a good proxy. These allow one to determine contributions from different species and their translational and librational motions.  I present spectra from 1:1 mixtures of benzene and [mmim][Ntf2] (dimethyl imidazolium [N(SO2CF3)2]-) and relate them to the local structure in the liquid. I compare the 1:1 mixture to the neat liquids of benzene and the ionic liquid and to the pure ionic liquid benzylmethylimidazolium with the same anion.
