A ruthenium porphyrin catalyzed three-component reaction of diazo compounds, nitrosoarenes and alkynes gives multifunctionalized aziridines in good to high yields and with moderate to high diastereoselectivity. The reaction is stereoselective and tolerant to various functionalities and can be operated under mild conditions. It also features highly efficient formation of four new bonds in a single operation.
