Assessing the Implications of Nanotechnology Engineered nanomaterials have tremendous potential to benefit the environment, but despite 10 years of research uncertainty remains about their environmental fate and effects of these materials, models to describe their behavior are still lacking.  This symposium will explore the  need to understand nanomaterials life cycle, releases, exposure, fate, and effects in a comprehensive manner.  Papers that provide mechanistic insights into how the nanomaterial properties lead to the observed efficacy of application, reactivity, or toxicity are highly desired.  Papers presenting the development and validation of models for predicting nanomaterial release, fate or effects are also highly desired.  Papers with these and related topics will be given highest priority for oral presentations.
