Silicone rubber insulators in transmission and distribution electrical energy lines are characterized by a number of important properties, e.g., light weight, good resistance to contamination due to their surface hydrophobicity and outstanding electrical insulation properties that provide utility for electrical insulation. The most important issue that must be overcome in silicone elastomers when used in outdoor high voltage applications is reduction of surface electrical stresses to a level whereby partial discharge, corona discharge or dry band arcing do not occur. Addition of suitable inorganic fillers can modify the discharge resistance (thermal oxidative degradation) of silicone rubber easily.There is increasing interest in preparing Nano-composites that incorporate hybrid materials, as there is some evidence that this could significantly improve their thermal and dielectric properties. Several studies involve Silsesquioxane (SQ) cages, which are structurally well-defined molecules represented by the formula (RSiO1.5)n. We report here effect of Di and Tri brominated [PhSiO1.5]10 and [PhSiO1.5]12 nano particles on dielectric and thermal properties of Silicone rubber. Figure 1. Thus, we were surprised to find that it is possible with just adding 5wt% of new brominated SQs to Silicone rubber, decrease Loss T about 60% that makes electrical insulators cooler and postpones their thermal degradation and increase dielectric constant about 20%
