Group VA-containing polyethers have been synthesized from Group VA dihalides and isomannide (D-Mannitol), employing the interfacial polycondensation system.  Reaction is rapid, less than 15 seconds, employing commercially available reactants including isomannide, a natural product derived from the flowering ash and commercially produced from glucose.  The polymers are produced in moderate yield where the chain length is Bi>Sb>As.  Identification by infrared spectroscopy shows the formation of new bands associated with the M-O linkage.
