Several 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles were alkylated with alcohols to give mostly 2,5-disubtituted tetrazoles in high yield and with high regioselectivity. The alkylation was achieved using the convenient reagents diphenyl 2-pyridylphosphine and di-tert-butyl azodicarboxylate.
