Beginning in 2010 at the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16), students have been able to obtain non-governmental organization (NGO) status from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), through the American Chemical Society (ACS), in order to provide student outreach on climate change issues. To accomplish the mission of student engagement nationwide from COP conferences, individuals performed diverse tasks to educate other students on the happenings and involvements of the conference, and how they relate to known climate issues. COP participants would attend numerous sessions, interview and network with other NGO personnel, while also conversing with government officials. From politics to science, various topics were published and discussed across technological outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and blogs. This presentation will highlight student-to-student engagement efforts and their evolution from COP 16.
