Cyclopropane skeletons are found in various natural and synthetic compounds and have interesting biological activities due to their structure. There are various methods for the synthesis of functionalized cyclopropanes, but enantioselective methods for construction of cyclopropanes containing contiguous chiral centers, fluorinated substituents, and quaternary centers are rather scarce. We have developed a new methodology to access highly functionalized cyclopropanes using Michael Initiated Ring Closure (MIRC) reaction for b?b-substituted acrylates with sulfur-ylides in the presence of chiral Lewis acid catalysts.
