Phthalocyanine (Pc) derivatives that can be fabricated into highly ordered thin films by simple solvent processing techniques are critical for improving exciton mobility in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices. We herein report a new series of C2-symmetric Pcs with extended conjugation and appropriate substituents to ensure Pc solubility in common organic solvents while not disturbing close p-p stacking. The thin film growth of the new Pcs on highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) was investigated by AFM and an ordered �plate-like� architecture was observed. A preliminary study using conductive-AFM demonstrates a mobility in the level of 10-2cm2V-1s-2. Details of thin film morphology (XRD), thermal properties (DSC, TGA) and photoelectron spectroscopy properties (XPS, UPS) will be reported.
