A rapid double annulation transforms simple alkynyl benzaldehyde derivative (A) in to the annulated phenanthrene (B), which possesses the carbon skeleton of deoxy-apomorphine (C), a known dopamine receptor agonist. This talk will focus on optimization of the double annulated process and efforts to transform (B) into apomorphine analog (C).
