Iron(III) chloride/sodium iodide effectively iododeboronates a variety of functionalized potassium aryl- and alkenyltrifluoroborates in dry acetonitrile at 80 <sup>o</sup>C. Good yields of the corresponding iodide products are obtained. Iron(III) chloride/sodium iodide was also found to be an effective in iododestannation reactions using a variety of tributyl(aryl)stannanes at room temperature in a (1:1) THF/water solution. The stannane reactions generally require 40-60 minutes, whereas the trifluoroborate reactions require longer reaction times. Both procedures provide excellent yields of the aryl iodide products.
